I have always been a history buff since childhood. My first historical event was what triggered my interest in crafting reproductions of existing examples. Whether it be stone, bone, beads, leather or other media. I assembled a library on the subject(s) and made photographs of extant examples for reference. Read and research your interest. Learn about the history and select your specific interest(s). I enjoy participating in Living History Events. These events are educational and are a chance to mix and mingle with Living Historians who have also researched their presentations. You can learn alot from others. Living History Events are simply interesting and fun to visit. You can and will make friends at these events, and maybe get bitten by the "Historical Bug."
At these events, I have also noticed many Photographers, (photo artisans), attending. If you love photography, this is your chance to "capture the moment." I have even heard talk from the Photo Artisans about entering their photos in contests or offer them for sale.
If you have a chance, visit at least one Historical Event and bring a camera. You may be surprised with what you hear, observe and document.
